Baptism- My Story

water

Although I went to church off and on for a couple of years after my Grandfather died when I was 9 years old, I never really started going to church until Easter of 2004 when I was 34 years of age. That was when I started attending Granger Community Church (GCC) with my wife Kimberly who had been attending for a few years. I started to attend because of this odd feeling I had been having that there was something much more to life than what I had been doing, and because I got conned into it but … [Read more...]

Pure Class

inge

With the Major League Baseball trading deadline approaching, the seemingly end to the NFL Lockout and a self-destructive golfer kind of grabbing all of the sports headlines right now, it is easy for a story to be over looked. Especially when that story is not flashy or controversial. Instead the story is full of class, dignity and respect. I am talking about the Detroit Tigers acquisition of Third Baseman Wilson Betimet yesterday from the Kansas City Royals. Actually, it was not the trade … [Read more...]

Osama Bin Laden Killed

flag

By now, we all know that Osama Bin Laden has been killed by a daring action by the U.S. Navy Seals in a plan put together by President Obama and our military leaders. When the announcement came on television Sunday night I really did not know what to feel. Joy? Sadness? Relief? Something else I can't think of right now? As I sat and watched the details roll in, the celebrations taking place etc... I couldn't help but to think "What does God think of all of this?" What does God think of … [Read more...]

Seven Observations Of Post Arizona

I have not posted many opinion pieces lately. In part because I have been busy. In part because of working on re-doing my website.  In part because of the time it has been taking to do my 365 project on a daily basis. And in part, because I have a life that does not include this website.  Over the past 2 weeks since the shootings in Arizona, I have sat back and just observed. Before I spoke up about it or anything going on in regards to it, I just wanted to watch how others … [Read more...]

Temptation

Every once in awhile, I get to choose a topic for my men's bible study group to discuss on Friday morning. This is the outline for our next discussion which is this Friday at Honkers on Day Road at 6 a.m.Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Matthew 6:13)Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.(Matthew 4:1)Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and He himself tempts no … [Read more...]

You Know What You Know,You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know

When asked about their childhood, most people respond about all of the difficulties they had or about how bad their parents were. I fall into that category as well. We all have stories to tell or situations that happened that molded us into to people that we are today. My story mostly revolves around my parents. They cared about us kids and, although it may have been a little misguided at times, they did love us kids. I grew up in Niles, Michigan during the 70's and times were tough. The 5 of us … [Read more...]

What Is Buying Power? Is Now The Right Time To Buy?

I get asked all the time "Is Now The Right Time To Buy?" or "Why Should I Buy Right Now" and in the past I have given a response similar to this:"Now is a great time to buy because rates are low and prices are low. Historically, when rates are low, then prices are high. Or when rates are high, prices are low. So, this is truly a unique market in that you have the best of both."Don't get me wrong, I think that is a fine answer to give, especially since it was the answer that I have been giving to … [Read more...]
