Your builder should have several floor plans for you to choose from depending on the price range that you would like to be in. Make sure that there is good communication between you and your builder. If there is something specific that you need in a home, chances are, they have run across it before and will have a solution to your problem with a floor plan. Other times, they may have a very good reason as to why they cannot alter a floor plan a certain way, like if it would harm the structural integrity of the home.

Most builders will be willing to alter a plan for you, but there may be a charge to do so. Changes that are made have to be cleared by an architect or engineer to make sure that it can actually be done. The fee for this is usually minimal, so don’t let it interfere with what you want to have in a home. A good builder wants you to be happy so that you will refer more business their way.
