You need to think of your home as a marketable commodity, not the place where you raised your kids etc. Your goal is to get others to see it as their potential home. De-personalize it. Take down family photos. Put the house in more of a neutral mode. Just because you might like a red living room, does not mean that everyone would like a read living room.

One of the best things that a seller can do, is to rent a storage unit for a few months for the “clutter” that is in every home. There are items in every house that can be done without that take up room, that is what goes in the storage unit.
